Octanoic Acid in alcohol responsive essential tremor – A randomized controlled study

There is no medication available that has been designed specifically for Essential Tremor. The National Institutes of Health studied One Octanol/ Octanoic Acid for about ten years before putting the study on hold in May 2012. As I participated in several stages of the study, I know it works and is safe. It is very important that this study be completed, and people with Essential Tremor finally have a drug designed for their condition.

  3. I totally agree. Would it be an idea to make a petition which we (the people who suffer from ET) can sign on line?

  5. I tried caprylic acid for the past three days to treat the tremor component of my spasmodic dysphonia (voice disorder). My tremor is normally decreased by alcohol. I used a dose much higher than in the study, 2100 mg, about q6 hours, and did have a significant reduction in tremor, although it did not completely eliminate it. The effect seemed to be strongest starting about 4.5 hours after the dose, which is consistent with the research. I’ll cut back on the dose the next few days and see if I still get benefit. Also, I may try smaller, more frequent doses. I purchased the supplement at a vitamin store, about 350 mg / capsule, with a recommended dose of 6 caps.
